Dilla Instrumentals All Night Long

There’s not much to be said about the late J Dilla that hasn’t been said already by people more articulate than myself. Suffice it to say that without his innovations, much of the music I play on this show wouldn’t sound the way it does. The shuffling, low-end heavy, psychedelic beats that are close to ubiquitous these days wear the Dilla influence on their sleeve, and while some derivative shlock has surfaced (it always does), a whole lot of interesting music that is innovative in it’s own right has come from Jay Dee’s template. Tonight I’ll be playing some of my favorite Dilla instrumentals (it is a beats show, after all) to celebrate a vast catalog of fantastic music.
